Mon, 08 Sep 2008 02:40:15 PDT- Maybe it was a letdown after an emotional season opener—this time, a morning kickoff against a non-BCS team that nearly lost to an FCS team the previous week.
Or maybe it's a reality check for a football team that's pretty ordinary and has a lot of work ahead.
Whatever the case, Nebraska's 35-12 victory Saturday over San Jose State of the Western Athletic Conference raised several red flags.
The final score isn't indicative of the difficult time the Huskers had in putting away the Spartans, who won 13-10 last week over UC-Davis.
San Jose State had pulled within 14-12 on Jared Strubeck's 27-yard field goal with 12:17 remaining in the game. Strubeck earlier had a 32-yard attempt hit the upright, and teammate Will Johnson missed a 41-yard attempt, plus...
Sun, 07 Sep 2008 12:48:38 PDT-Nebraska defensive end Barry Turner has a broken bone in his left leg and probably is out for the season. Turner was hurt early in Nebraska's 35-12 win against San Jose State on Saturday. Pierre Allen replaced Turner and finished with a team-high 10 tackles and a pass breakup. "It's a painful thing, losing Barry," defensive coordinator Carl Pelini said Sunday.
Sat, 06 Sep 2008 13:45:22 PDT-
Niles Paul ran back a kickoff 85 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter, allowing Nebraska to break open a close game and go on to beat San Jose State 35-12 Saturday. The Spartans made it 14-12 with a field goal early in the fourth. On the kickoff, Paul made a move to his left and headed up the sideline untouched.

Fri, 05 Sep 2008 22:04:00 PDT- The Nebraska football team (1-0) will take the field for today's 11:40 a.m. kickoff against San Jose State (1-0)...

Mon, 08 Sep 2008 08:16:04 GMT-Sitting on close to double-digit offers, and with his own season fresh underway, two-way standout Andrew Green set out on his first official visit of the recruiting season. Destination: Lincoln. As to what he thinks coming out versus what he thought going in, Green said that some things about Nebraska surprised, but some he fully expected.
Mon, 08 Sep 2008 01:16:12 GMT-It's a little unnerving when a recruit can commit to a school sight unseen. I am sure that the collective breath of coaches and fans alike are being held, probably up until signing day, but at least until an official visit takes place. Dontrayevous Robinson saw Nebraska for the first time this weekend after committing in May. What were his thoughts?
Sun, 07 Sep 2008 20:46:08 GMT-At first, it was just Brandon Kinnie coming up from Fort Scott (Kans.) and after a first game performance by him that included seven receptions for 148 yards and four scores from his wide out position, it was enough. Kinnie could be that bigger frame, big play receiver that Nebraska might be looking for to take their offense to another level. What did he think about his visit?
Sun, 07 Sep 2008 19:49:44 GMT-Nebraska defensive end Barry Turner has a broken bone in his left leg and probably is out for the season.
"He's a senior and one of our leaders. But Pierre is a special player. I'd rather have the two of them.
Sun, 07 Sep 2008 18:46:05 GMT-The last of the six official visitors to set up his visit was Fort Scott (Kans.) outside linebacker, Jaquian Williams. The 6-foot-4 and 230-pound Williams went up to Nebraska this weekend as part of a trio of Fort Scott players. Williams didn't have his whole heart into the trip, but after the visit the Huskers have rocketed up towards the top of his list.
